Sabian 15" HHX Complex Medium Hi Hat Cymbals

Sabian HHX Complex Series Cymbals are a natural evolution of other Sabian cymbals. These B20 bronze cymbals are made using techniques developed in other series, combining lathing and hammering patterns to create a new sound that is dark and lush, with a wide swath of overtones.

The HHX Complex Series uses two different kinds of hammering - a deeper, larger hammer makes the larger hammering marks that are easily seen from the bottom of the cymbal, and a smaller hammering pattern is used on the top, carefully honing in on a complex blend of frequencies (hence the name). The bell is unlathed, with tight hammering that makes the sound stand out from the rest of the cymbal.

HHX Complex Hi Hat Cymbals use all of this technology to create a pair of hats with a distinct stick definition and a warm sound. The wash of an open pair of hi hats is smooth and connected, and the chick sound is defined while still having depth and body. The top cymbal is a medium weight, and the bottom is heavy, making for a nice blend of clarity and tone with each stroke.

The HHX Complex line is not designed for a specific application - instead, it was designed to work across the board. No matter what kind of music you're playing, the complexity and depth of tone will add a lot of nuance to(more...)
