Sabian 16" Big and Ugly AA Apollo Hi Hats combine a thin top cymbal with a medium-thin bottom cymbal, both given a special treatment that intentionally adds some dryness on top of the normally crystal-clear sound of AAs. They're bright and fat at the same time.
The 16" models are a little deeper, a little louder, and a little fatter than the 14s.
Big and Ugly cymbals look just like the kinds of plates you'd find at the back of a pawn shop - they're unapologetically unpretty in looks, but they tend to be pretty dark and complex in timbre.
