The Meinl 22" Classics Custom Dark Ride Cymbal balances really nicely between having a clear enough stick definition without being too bright of a sound. The initial attack is clean and clear with high overtones, followed by a warm mid-range spacey wash.
The bell creates a note that has brighter initial overtones and a lower fundamental pitch than the rest of the cymbal, giving you a nice change when you want to give your ride a little boost.
The surface of the entire cymbal is covered with a shiny black finish, moderately hammered, and then lathed to create a very distinct and eye-catching gold-on-black design.
