All G Series drums are made by throwing the idea of multiple tonalities out the window, instead focusing on a drum that responds evenly with clear articulation across the entire dynamic range.
The cross-laminated, 10-ply maple shell has been sanded, stained, and finished with multiple coats to protect and beautify the drum. A lacquer seal on the inside surface both keeps moisture out of the wood and helps to reflect high overtones for better upper-end sounds.
The Grover Pro/Trick 700 throw-off is equipped with a center knob for master adjustments, as well as two tension balancers that let you adjust the four snare types independently for quieter or louder music. G4 drums are equipped with four snare types that blissfully cover the entire dynamic spectrum:
- Gold Nylon-Coated Cable - for f to fff+ playing
- Black Coated Cable - combined with Silver Uncoated Cable for mf to ff playing
- Silver Uncoated Cable - combined with Black Coated Cable for mf to ff playing
- Carbon Steel Spiral Snares - 600 contact points for ppp - mf playing
The snares are secured at both ends with high-strength nylon-coated aircraft cable that prevents the need for any kind of maintenance. The snare wires exit the bed at 20 degrees, the optimal angle for a free and full snare response.
Die-cast rims keep the tension of the head locked down tightly, pulled in with sleek 'Contempo' tube lugs that give the drums a mechanical, well-oiled machine look.
