Designed with jazz veteran Jeff Hamilton, the Sabian 20" Crescent Hammertone Ride Cymbal actually works well in both crash and ride roles - Jeff doesn't actually use a crash in his normal setup. The high profile and exaggerated bow curve give it this particular sound profile.
A special lathing technique gives this cymbal a tapered edge, warming the sound when used as a crash.
These cymbals were crafted with jazz combos and big band in mind, but they could easily find a place in other genres with lower volume requirements.
