Ludwig Black Beauty Snare Drums are legendary, having been a fan favorite for what seems like forever. Making a seamless shell from a single sheet of beaded brass and giving it a black nickel finish is difficult, and they produce very limited numbers each year.
Brass produces a loud metallic attack, but it's far warmer and rounder than steel and more active than aluminum. The 5" depth of this model tunes high nicely, with a little more pop and less depth to the sound.
This special model of the Black Beauty comes with brass hardware, warming up the sound even further. You'll get brass die-cast hoops, brass tube lugs, a brass-plated P86 Millenium throw-off, and a brass-plated P33 butt plate.
