Meinl Professional Tabla

The Tabla drums are North Indian hand drums used both as accompaniment to classical Indian music and as a solo instrument. These drums come in sets of two: the larger "Bayan" played with the left hand, and the smaller "Tabla" played with the right hand. The 'tuning dot' unique to drums of this region give these drums their clear pitch and exotic, recognizable sound. Pitch bending is possible, and is used often when playing this instrument.

The Meinl Tabla is a professional-level pair of drums in the time-honored North Indian tradition, using copper and mahogany shells. Made my master craftsmen in India, these drums feature multi-ply natural goat skin heads that are secured by metal rings and rawhide thongs. Proper tuning is achieved by adjusting wooden rollers that are fitted under the rawhide verticals with the included tuning hammer and wooden tuning dowel. Ring pads (for placement on the ground) and head covers are also included.
