Black Swamp field drums have a thin maple shell with reinforcement rings, which help focus the deep fundamental tone and keep the shell from warping. The duo snare strainer includes eight-strand gold and eight-strand blue coated cable snares. Die-cast hoops are thicker and less giving than flanged hoops, giving the drum a brighter tone, particularly during rim shots.
