S-Hoops are similar to standard triple-flanged hoops, but at the top it flanges inward, hanging about 1/2" over the bearing edge of the shell.
This design modification adds structural strength to the hoop so it can crank down like it was die-cast. The wide striking surface feels nicer to play on than a standard triple-flanged rim, makes rim knocks louder, and is friendlier on your sticks when you play rim shots.
This hoop fits 14" snare drums and toms with 8 lugs. If you're putting it on your snare drum, it will only work for the batter (top) side.
