The Mysterious Barrier by Kirk J. Gay is a follow up timpani duet to his piece Fear Cage. Like the first, both players are trapped within a circle of timpani. This one's inspired by Couperin's harpsichord music.
Using nine drums, the two players work together to create melodies, play quick arpeggios, split fast licks, and trade phrases. It's an aural and visual showcase, sure to entertain audiences.
