Elements by Chad Heiny is a methodical study in rhythm, harmony, and deliberate atmospheric melody. The work comes in the form of four hands on one marimba, or two players on the same instrument, which allows for serious cohesion and careful musical communication.
Each movement is immensely programmatic and atmospheric, evoking characteristics of each element that is being represented. The piece as a whole is steady, lullaby-like, and pretty.
Each movement also comes with an optional, atmospheric background track that helps enhance the overall sonic atmosphere of the piece.
