Shh... by Benjamin Fraley was written for his friend Ned Smith, who tragically passed away in 2016 from a sudden illness, while Fraley was struggling with long bouts of insomnia. Despite the title, this duet uses a wide variety of tempi and motivic content to communicate an intricate musical intent.
The setup for this duet is relatively small, meaning it is easy to perform for a travelling duo, and the tight collection of percussion instruments also means that the music is focused heavily on motivic ideas and interplay between players.
This piece includes a full score, both individual parts, and a CD-ROM with an audio recording of the piece.
