Big Country is a fun and catchy tune originally by Bela Fleck that has been arranged for percussion ensemble by Olin Johannessen.
This arrangement prominently features a variety of keyboard instruments with players using 4-mallet independent techniques to capture the energy and style of the original banjo line. A small rhythm section, consisting of drum set and bass guitar help drive the two-step feel and even includes an optional part for soprano saxophone!
This is a bit technically challenging and is great for a mixed high school group looking to play something very fun that the audience will really enjoy!
