There are Beethoven pieces that are meant to be used for something intense like overthrowing a government or an 80s training montage (looking at you Fifth Symphony). Then there's Beethoven pieces that you associate with taking a walk through the woods, or children playing with puppies, and that is where we find .
Brian Slawson has arranged this joyful song for a large mallet ensemble that captures the original uplifting mood of this composition. Most of the parts in this arrangement are fairly simple, the melody lines have quicker notes, and one marimba part uses three and four note chords that will require a player that knows a four-mallet technique. This piece is excellent for an advanced middle school or high school level ensemble and makes a pleasant addition to any percussion concert.
