Tapspace Scenes from the Woods by Brian Blume

Scenes from the Woods by Brian Blume is an energetic work for marimba ensemble. This piece is written to reflect the times that the composer spent outside in the woods during his youth, featuring both fast past experiences as well as the more calm and serene.

Players are called to use different types of strokes such as dead strokes and even playing the marimba and wood block with the shaft of the mallets to create different timbres of sound. This is an entertaining yet challenging piece that is great for upper level high school and college ensembles to perform at their next concert.
