Trout Scherzo from Franz Schubert's piano quintet has been expertly arranged by Stephen Primatic to bring some very lively early-Romantic music to the percussion ensemble. Great dynamic control is necessary from all players in this almost-five-minute piece.
Written in a fast 3/4 that feels like it's 'in one', this ensemble is written for 13 players but you can reduce to a keyboard choir of 7 by eliminating the timpani and non-melodic parts. Each part is intermediate in difficulty, making it absolutely achievable for talented high school and young college ensembles.
The piece comes with a full, bound score and a data CD that contains an audio recording and digital copies of each part.
