Sky Music by Sarah Santa Cruz combines the forces of a low brass octet and a percussion ensemble to bring you soaring melodies that flow over contradictory, sporadic-sounding keyboard percussion. The result is something markedly unique in the repertoire, and is certainly worth investigating.
A good reason to get students of different instrument groups to interact in a smaller setting, this piece would work well in a high school or college chamber brass concert, or a percussion ensemble concert! You could even double dip performances.
