Tapspace Surfboard by Antonio Carlos Jobim arr. Murray Gusseck

Surfboard was originally written by renowned Brazilian composer Antonio Carlos Jobim back in the 1960s after a trip to Los Angeles. Murray Gusseck's adaptation for 8-player percussion ensemble brings this catchy tune to a new audience.

This piece is written around a four-over-three polyrhythm, giving younger players a chance to play over the barline with no more than two mallets. Like Jobim's other music, this piece is highly chromatic which can help players get used to playing on the accidentals.

This tune is groovy and based on samba rhythms, making it entertaining for your kids and the audience alike.
