Written for his daughter, the percussion ensemble Mi Milagro by Ralph Hicks is based on traditional Mexican marimba playing - three players on a single instrument. Only the three marimba players are required, but five extra auxiliary parts can be added to enhance the piece!
Written in a simple, fast three, this piece is an excellent opportunity to give young players a chance at playing some music without a conductor. The notes are filled with simple, repetitive ostinatos and the tempo remains steady throughout.
