Dark Passenger by Andy Harnsberger adds a pressure-filled audio/visual experience to any percussion ensemble concert or recital. This trio, written for three players surrounding three bongos, utilizes a mounted camera to highlight the physical interaction.
Audiences watch from a bird's eye view (via a projection screen) as the players play with sticks, rods, brushes, and mallets in a frenetic dance across the bongos. The energetic opening and closing sections surround a tranquil moment feature cup gongs and button gongs.
Dark Passenger is best viewed live, but you can also use it as an excellent way to distract audiences from a long set change.
