Funky Fugue for Five by Alan Keown gives a quintet of young percussionists the opportunity to jam out while learning all about everybody's favorite delay-based compositional tool: the fugue.
This drummy piece of music can be performed as written, or you can eliminate the timpani part if you've only got four players. The rhythmic language is simple, allowing students to focus on how the piece fits together without worrying too hard about their own part.
