Epic Proportions by Jonathan Ovalle is a bombastic, energetic percussion sextet featuring drum set and keyboard soloists. The piece cycles through a series of motives and small groupings of instruments based on the simple concept of 2+3, which is derived from the title ("Ep-ic Pro-por-tions").
The solo parts are very demanding, but the whole ensemble will need a finely tuned knowledge of polyrhythms and quick meter changes. This is a piece for a mature ensemble looking for a challenging and impressive work to perform.
