Andrea Venet began composing Kibo after studying rudimental snare drumming with the famous percussionist Bob Becker. Influenced by Becker and the works of John S. Pratt and Joseph Tompkins, this piece features a snare drum solo with lots of rudimental flair supported by keyboard quartet accompaniment.
The harmonic makeup of the keyboard accompaniment finds its roots in the popular song Africa by famous 80's band Toto.
This is a fun and entertaining piece for a percussion ensemble or solo jury for a player with excellent snare drum chops!
