Tapspace Jalopy by John Herndon

John Herndon's Jalopy is a fun and light-hearted ensemble that uses traditional percussion instruments in tandem with unusual auxiliary instruments such as bike horn, flexatone, and police whistle, to depict an old, run-down automobile. Dedicated to the composer's grandfather, Jalopy will be sure to entertain audiences of percussionists and non-percussionists alike.

Written with younger players in mind, this piece would fit in great at any middle school band or percussion concert. This piece also gives the director the rare opportunity to introduce techniques for many different auxiliary instruments to their beginning students.
