Tapspace Three Scenes from the Desert by Alex Stopa

Three Scenes from the Desert by Alex Stopa is a work for marimba/vibraphone duo, with each of the three pieces including optional percussion accompaniment. Each piece is "customizable" in this way, featuring anywhere from 2-5 players.

This makes it a very easy piece to program, especially since it is not too technically challenging while still offering plenty of musical depth. The collection itself aims to represent the feelings of the desert, with everything from slower, toned-down atmospheres to a waltz to an upbeat, energetic last piece!

Each work is shorter - 3:07, 3:10, and 2:50, respectively - making them great interludes for percussion ensemble. For high school and college programs alike, these pieces make for a great percussion ensemble concert!
