Avalanche Lake by Patrick Speranza is a large-scale percussion ensemble work that is perfect for a beginner ensemble, with accessible parts and an instrumentation that most middle and high school band programs will be able to meet.
The piece is inspired by a long hike at Glacier National Park, including the waterfalls and forest mountains he witnessed there. The large, positive melodies combine to create a full sound that is still easy to perform!
