Aether by Francisco Perez is a percussion ensemble piece designed to capture the idea of Newton's "aether" medium, which was supposed to permeate all other space. This ethereal energy is captured with bright percussion sounds like crotales and glockenspiel, along with other metallic percussion.
The djembe part that exists throughout serves to hold the piece together musically, and creates a groove that is easy to enjoy for performers and audience members alike.
