Tapspace The Camino by Michael Charles Smith

The Camino by Michael Charles Smith is a warm, repetitive piece for solo marimba with a pretty harmonic structure and simple musical ideas. It was written to depict the Camino de Santiago, which was a 600-mile pilgrimage on foot through western Europe.

This piece is an intermediate technical challenge, offering the performer an opportunity to develop their technique through consistent, perpetual sixteenth notes in 7/8 time. Musically, it is demanding of a consistent touch to get the melodies and harmonies to speak evenly and clearly.
