Tapspace Tristesse by Frederic Chopin arr. Benjamin Holmes

Tristesse by Frederic Chopin was given the name, which means sadness, by one of Chopin's contemporaries, due to the melancholy nature of the piece. This gorgeous piece is constructed of a lot of vertical rhythmic elements, making for a unique challenge on marimba.

The many quad-stops and stacked chords demand quick interval changes and an intimate understanding of the marimba, while still managing to keep the melodic voice the most predominant and easy to interpret over the other elements of the piece.
