Kachiro wanted drums that were different than anything else available, and Meinl delivered. You might notice that this 12.5" quinto is fatter and rounder than other congas, giving you (and him) the powerful mid-to-low resonance that he prefers whether live or in the studio.
Everything about these drums is made for strength and power. Extra thick mule skin heads can handle an enormous amount of torque and energy, held taut by meaty 4mm rounded SSR hoops that are comfy under your hands and massive 10mm tuning hooks.
The heavy shells are made of three plies of Siam Oak, finished with a high gloss lacquer. The bottom is fitted with a metal protector.
You get a healthy supply of accessories with this drum: conga savers lug sleeves to protect your other drums, handles for easier schlepping, soundpads to get good sounds while on the floor, an accessory pouch, an L-shaped tuning key, and tuning oil.
